1978
The National Association of Independent
Laboratories for Rubber Goods Testing (NAIL for RGT) was organized.
1980
NAIL for RGT was incorporated in the state of Iowa, the location of
the sitting president.
1981
NAIL develops its Laboratory Accreditation Program. The program was
developed in recognition of the desire of governmental agencies, public
interest groups, and other interested parties to have a means of accreditation
for all testing laboratories serving the public.
1985
The organization changed its name to the National Association of Independent
Laboratories for Protective Equipment Testing (NAIL for PET).
1998
The organization changed its name to the Association of North American
Independent Laboratories for Protective Equipment Testing (NAIL for
PET) to reflect it's growing reputation as an organization with membership
beyond the borders of the United States.
