Benefits

Increased Business
Accredited labs have attested to
the fact that their business has grown since their accreditation. Many
customers are increasingly requesting that a laboratory be "NAIL-accredited"

Improved Processes
Every laboratory is a better facility
today than it was at the time of the initial inspection. This is due,
in part, to the inspection process itself.

Documented Procedures
The accreditation process emphasizes
the importance of detailed, documented, and followed work procedures.
This can become part of what is presented to potential customers to
solidify their confidence in your laboratory.

Confidence
Accreditation brings a certain piece
of mind to both laboratory employees and laboratory customers that the
laboratory is a sound organization operating to industrywide accepted
standards.

Recognition
Accreditation under the NAIL program
is recognized throughout the United States and Canada as an important
asset to the credentials of a testing facility. The program is listed
in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST Publication
831).
Process
Independent Inspector
To maintain the independence of
the accreditation program and to assure that the audit of a laboratory's
qualifications is unbiased, NAIL retains a qualified independent firm
to conduct the Accreditation.
Accepted Criteria
The criteria used to assess the
laboratories is based upon accepted standards developed by ASTM, ANSI,
and other applicable standard organizations.

Items Covered
The criteria cover basic operational
areas including the laboratory facility, equipment, training and knowledge
of staff, quality control work procedures, adequacy of management, and
financial responsibility.

Fees
Fees charged for accreditation are
adequate to cover the expenses commensurate with the cost to perform
the accreditation surveys.
